Next Level, Lexington’s premium destination for team and individual soccer training, welcomes longtime local coaches Jimmy Rue and Mike Donnelly to its staff.
For Coach Rue, this has been a long time coming. Over the years, he’s been focused on his own Skills Soccer Club, which he ran in a number of different locations.
Now Rue and Donnelly are merging those efforts with Next Level, becoming part of a team that will help run the facility.
Coach Rue explains, “This all came about from several years of work. We’ve been actively trying to grow the program, and we actually grew it enough to where we thought we can fill the space”.
Now that Skills Soccer Club has merged with Next Level, athletes have better access to train in an indoor facility to help them achieve their goals.
“Kids that sign with us will have more access to training, whereas we didn’t before,” Rue says, “We were kind of putting teams together and going to tournaments without being able to prep and do the training systems that we like.”
Next Level Sports Training Facility began with the purpose of providing training opportunities to individuals and teams across Central Kentucky. They are committed to helping young athletes reach their potential and attain their goals.
The Next Level mission statement reads, “We are determined to provide a fun and safe environment for youth athletes where they can come to grow as players as well as individuals.”
Coach Rue has been a youth soccer coach for many years, working with the Lexington Youth Soccer Association and its club, Lexington FC, in addition to his own club. Coach Donnelly has helped Rue with a number of his projects, including their annual Street Soccer nights at Waveland State Historic Park, and is a Lexington FC coach.
