Coach Cary Tsamas is bringing back his ‘Get Ready for Tryouts Camps’ to The Art of Soccer.
After a successful turnout last year Coach Tsamas decided to bring back the camp to help players prepare for their club or even school tryouts. Each camp session consists of three one-hour units of small-group personal training to help players build their skills and confidence as they head into their tryouts.
Started at the suggestion of parents in 2017, Coach Tsamas aims to help players understand what tryout coaches are looking for, because he’s a club coach who evaluates tryouts himself.
“Tryouts are very stressful time for both parents and players,” Coach Tsamas said, “Besides working on improving their skills, we also talk to them about other things coaches are looking for: attentiveness, body language, social interaction, and enthusiasm.”
While skill plays a large part in a coach’s decision in selecting players, they also look at other aspects such as attitude toward other players and the game itself. Are they able to stay focused throughout the game and take the directions their coach gives them? Are they team players?
Confidence is another attribute that coaches are searching for when putting together their teams.
“One thing parents talk to me about is how they wished their player would play with more confidence,” Coach Tsamas explained. “Confidence is directly related to skill. The more skillful a player, the more confidence the player has.”
Coach Tsamas keeps a small player-to-trainer ratio for a more personal training experience. Camps will be held the last week of May and the first week of June. Two sessions each week are available.
Session are held at the Art of Soccer’s indoor facility 2430 Palumbo Drive, Suite 120
